Projects for Peace: The Vision of Kathryn W. Davis

"My challenge to you is to bring about a mind-set of preparing for peace, instead of preparing for war."

In 2019, Danika Robison was awarded a Projects for Peace grant to produce a short film in the highlands of Ecuador. The film documents the historic transformation of a group of indigenous sweatshop workers into a unionized force. The workers ultimately purchased the factory where they were once exploited and abused, and the space is now a museum celebrating their Kichwa culture. Danika’s film, “Kawsakunchik,” has been selected to appear in the Smithsonian’s Mother Tongue Film Festival, running online through May 2021. Watch it here:
